Why Chronic Inflammation May Be a Sign of a Bigger Problem

Inflammation is not automatically bad. It is one of the body's normal protective responses to injury, infection, and stress. When you cut your finger or fight an infection, inflammatory signaling helps coordinate repair and defense. The problem begins when those signals remain elevated because the body continues to perceive a threat.

Persistent inflammation can have many contributors, including metabolic dysfunction, inadequate sleep, chronic stress, dietary patterns, environmental exposures, infections, and other health conditions. Rather than viewing inflammation as the enemy, it can be more useful to view it as information. What is keeping the signal turned on?

That question is central to the RESTORE MILA philosophy. The goal is not simply to suppress a signal without understanding it. By looking upstream at the factors affecting mitochondria, immune regulation, lymphatic flow, nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle, we can build a more complete picture of what may be contributing to ongoing dysfunction.
